Hind Roustom
Hind Roustom was born in Moharam Bek, Alexandria, November 12, 1931 as Hind Hussein Morad. After she was discovered by the director Hasan Al-Imam, Hind Roustom became one of the sexiest actresses. Her first role in a film was Azhaar wa Ashwak, alongside the famous actor Yehia Shahin.
She
entered the Arab Cinema World by starting as an extra alongside famous
actors. Then Hind was discovered by Director Hasan Al-imam who
introduced her in leading roles in Banat Al-Lail, Al-Gasad, and Itrafat Zoujeh.
She became one of the most famous and sexiest stars in the '50s and
'60s, introducing the concept of being sexy without nudity.
She
starred in many different role types, including drama, melodrama and
comedy. She even attempted singing as she did with Farid Al Atrash in Khrouj Min Al-Janah and Al-Rahiba.
She played roles in more than 60 films and worked with famous directors
such as Yusuf Shahin, Hasan Al-Imam, and Salaah Abu Seif and many
others.

She participated in many international festivals,
including the Venice Film Festival, Locarno Festival and others. She
received the Best Actress Award for her role in Al-Jaban Wa Al-hob.

She chose to leave the limelight at the top of her career. Hind
Roustom turned down an offer of one million Egyptian pounds for her
biography at the end of December 2002. The offer was made by one of the
Egyptian satellite channels to portray her life as a drama series. The
actress stated that she refused to sell her life as means of
entertainment. She remains a legendary icon in Egyptian film.
